The limits of the programme
- It cannot be used for unskilled or casual temporary work
- Childcare or elderly care and roles involving direct patient contact are not eligible
- No more than 20 per cent of the duties may be clerical support
- The host organisation must provide continuous on-site supervision and mentoring
- A trainee programme cannot be ordinary employment or a repeat of previous experience
A strong internship file
The file should show why the position is a natural continuation of your educational background and which concrete skills it will build.
- A current enrolment or graduation certificate
- Field-related transcript and CV
- Evidence of the work experience required for a trainee
- A DS-7002 setting out phases, objectives and a supervisor
- A financial and logistical plan for the length of the programme
