Work & Study
Choose the destination by its actual permit rules, not by a promise of work.
Work & Study is not one international programme or visa category. Each country regulates student work rights separately. This page compares those differences using official sources.

Work & Study destinations
For applicants planning language study alongside limited, legally permitted work.

Review my optionsHow does the model work?
The education and visa route is determined before work expectations. If the course length, intensity and official registration are not eligible, no work permission arises.
Four checks
- An eligible, registered language programme
- A visa or residence status that permits work
- A separate employer or work permit where required
- A realistic budget that accounts for work-hour limits
Five destinations, five different sets of rules
| Ireland | With an eligible programme and Stamp 2: 20 hours in term and 40 hours during designated holidays |
|---|---|
| Malta | After the first 12 weeks, up to 20 hours per week with a Jobsplus permit |
| Australia | Up to 48 hours per fortnight during term time on a Student visa |
| Germany | Up to 20 hours per week with a residence permit for an intensive language course |
| Dubai | No automatic right to work; eligible residence status and the employer's MOHRE permit are required |
Language-course enrolment alone does not grant work permission. This option is considered only when residence or sponsorship and an employer permit can both be secured.
Employment income is not the whole budget
Visa proof of funds cannot rely on work that may be found later. Course fees, accommodation, insurance, transport and initial living costs must be affordable without employment.
Which of the five destinations suits you?
Let us narrow the options by your language level, timeline, budget and work expectations.

Work & Study available?
InterAX assesses this model only for Ireland, Malta, Australia, Germany and Dubai. Course, visa, residence and work-permit rules differ in each destination.
Does language-school enrolment automatically grant work permission?
No. Ireland, Malta, Australia and Germany require an eligible programme and permit type. Dubai also requires eligible residence status and an employer work permit.
Will employment income cover all costs?
No. Because of work-hour limits, the time needed to find work and living costs, employment income should only be treated as support for the budget.
Which destination is the best fit?
The right destination can only be chosen after reviewing the language goal, course length, starting budget, work expectations and visa history together.
When should I start?
For long-term programmes, it is usually safer to plan school, accommodation, visa and funding at least four to six months before the start date.
