Application systems
The first thing to apply bachelor’s degree is that the country a central system is not used. The last date in the central system is fixed at the national level and cannot be compensated; direct application changes to the university from the calendar university.
| Country | Undergraduate application channel | Calendar structure |
|---|---|---|
| UK | UCAS | Fixed at national level |
| Ireland | CAO (central) | Fixed at national level |
| Netherlands | Studielink | Limited-admission programmes close early |
| Denmark | optagelse.dk | Separate deadline for international candidates |
| Germany | uni-assist or direct to the university | The required channel is programme-specific |
| Italy | Directly to the university + Universitaly pre-registration | University admission and Universitaly pre-enrolment are separate processes |
| Spain | No central system | Varies by autonomous region and university |
| USA | Directly to the university | Institution-specific; early planning is essential |
UCAS equal consideration deadline for 2027 entry 13 January 2027, 18:00 (UK) explained. 15 October deadline is also applied in Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary program.
Admission terms
Diploma and grade
A secondary-school diploma obtained in Türkiye is assessed against the destination country’s education system. Some countries require specific subjects in addition to the final grade; others require a national examination result or a foundation year. The assessment varies by country and varies according to university.
Documents
- High-school diploma and transcript (with translation and certification where required)
- Language qualification certificate
- Passport
- Motivation letter and references (programme-specific)
- Portfolio or ability test (design, architecture, music)
No single country-level document list is published on this page, because the list depends on the country, the university and the programme alike. The binding list is the publication of the university you apply to and of the relevant consulate.
Language requirements
The language requirement comes up at two separate stages, and they must not be confused:
- Academic admission. The university sets the language level required for admission. Some institutions issue a conditional offer and allow the final certificate to be submitted before enrolment.
- Visa stage. Some countries set a separate language requirement for the visa. University admission does not automatically satisfy that requirement.
The language of instruction and the language of daily life may differ. The Netherlands, Denmark and Italy offer English-taught undergraduate programmes, while the local language remains a strong advantage for daily life and internships.
How to build the timeline
Calendar from the beginning period backwards installed. Advanced planning leads to jamming at language exam and document approval stages.
- 18–14 monthsShort listA country and programme shortlist is drawn up, followed by a language-test timeline.
- 14–10 monthsLanguage and documentsThe language test is taken. The diploma translation and certification process is started.
- 12–8 monthsApplicationCentral system applications are made: UCAS, CAO, Studielink, optagelse.dk.
- 8–5 monthsDecisionAdmission offers are compared and the final choice is made.
- 5–3 monthsvisa application fileProof-of-funds and accommodation documents are prepared.
- 3–1 monthsVisaVisa application is made; appointment density is taken into account.
This chart is a general frame. Deadlines in central systems are fixed and binding regardless of the ranges above.
Cost structure
Cost is not a single figure. Plan four separate cost categories together:
- Tuition. Most German state universities charge no general tuition fee; that does not mean "Germany is free" (see the note below).
- Administrative contribution. Payable every semester even where general tuition is not charged.
- Living costs. Not the country City the level should be calculated.
- The visa will show. It is worth noting that it is not available in the account.
Do not assume that studying in Germany is cost-free. Most state universities charge no general tuition fee, but a semester administrative contribution is payable each term; the state of Baden-Württemberg charges students from outside the EU/EEA a termly fee; some states and institutions have programme-specific exceptions; private universities and fee-paying programmes fall outside this.
Proof of funds
For a student visa, you must show sufficient funds for the study period. The figures below are checked against official institutional sources.
| Germany | €11,904/yearValid from 2025 · Germany Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt) – proof of education financing |
|---|---|
| Italy | €10,179.85/year2026-2027 and 2027-2028 academic years · MUR – circular on entry, residence and enrolment for international students (2026-2027 and 2027-2028 academic years) |
| UK (London) | £1,529/monthFor up to 9 months · Student visa – current · GOV.UK – Student visa: money |
| UK (outside London) | £1,171/monthFor up to 9 months · Student visa – current · GOV.UK – Student visa: money |
| Ireland | 10.000 €From 30 June 2025 · Immigration Service Delivery (Ireland's immigration service) |
| Netherlands | €1,130.77 / month1 January 2026 – 31 December 2026 · IND (Dutch Immigration and Citizenship Service) |
| Denmark | DKK 7,426 / month2026 level · nyidanmark.dk (SIRI – Danish International Recruitment and Integration Authority) |
For the UK, the required funds must remain in the account for 28 consecutive days. The period must end no more than 31 days before the application date.
The amount of proof of funds for Spain and the United Arab Emirates is not published on this page; it has not yet been verified from the relevant official institution source. We do not publish an amount until it can be verified accurately.
Scholarship assessment
Undergraduate scholarships are generally more limited than postgraduate funding and usually come from three sources: the university’s own success scholarships, support of regional student rights institutions and public programs at the country level.
No scholarship amount is published on this page. Amounts, places and deadlines vary from institution to institution and from year to year; the binding information is the institution's own announcement.
Common mistakes
- Do not confuse a central-system deadline with a university's own calendar. UCAS has its own deadlines of CAO and Studielink.
- Planning the language test too late. Allow for the decision period in the application timeline.
- Leaving diploma translation and certification to the final month.
- Do not treat tuition and visa proof of funds as the same budget item.
- Do not assume that any destination is cost-free. Administrative contribution and life expenses are in all cases.

Assess My ProfileFrequently asked questions
Is a high-school diploma enough for an undergraduate degree abroad?
The diploma is the basic requirement but not sufficient on its own. Countries assess the secondary curriculum and the leaving grade against their own systems; some require particular subjects to have been taken, others a national examination result or a foundation year. Which document is required of applicants from Türkiye depends on the country and the university.
What does the central application system mean?
In some countries undergraduate applications go through a single national portal and the deadline is the same nationwide: UCAS in the UK, the CAO in Ireland, Studielink in the Netherlands and optagelse.dk in Denmark work this way. A central system means a rigid timetable: if the deadline passes, there may be nothing left to do for that intake.
What is the UK deadline for 2027 entry?
The equal consideration deadline announced by UCAS 13 January 2027, 18:00 (UK). Applications that arrive by that date are assessed on equal terms by the universities. A separate 15 October deadline also applies to Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary programmes.
When is proof of language proficiency required for an undergraduate application?
Most universities want language certificates at academic application stage; some leave the conditional acceptance and document before registration. There is a separate language condition at the Visa stage. These two stages should not be mixed.
